MOUNT AIRY, N.C. -- For all you Andy Griffith fans, a group known as “The Children of Mayberry” are producing a modernized film of "Return to Mayberry", which will be called "Mayberry Man".

It highlights Mayberry's culture and will feature its annual Mayberry Days Festival.

Both tourists and locals are thrilled about the new film.

“Having the younger generation come and start getting involved and keeping everything alive,” said owner of Wally’s Service Station Gift Shop, Tamera Morton.

It's something Mount Airy’s economy and tourism counts on because the community was built around the fictional town of Mayberry.

The filming will take place in September 2020 during the annual Mayberry Days Festival.
