GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. – A High Point University student is being held on a $2 million bond after he was found with two guns on campus.

  • Paul Steber, 19, has been arrested for plotting to "shoot up" High Point University.
  • He's being held on a $2 million bond.
  • The ADA says he was watching videos of the Charleston church shooting to prepare.

According to police, Paul Arnold Steber, 19, from Boston, Massachussettes, admitted to planning to shoot up the campus of High Point University.

Police say he had a timeline laid out of his plot.

According to the ADA, Steber was watching videos of the the Charleston mass shooting to learn what to do and what not to do.

The university says students reported that Steber had two firearms, which were confiscated by campus police. 

Steber is facing multiple charges including Communicating a Threat of Mass Violence on Educational Property, which is a Class H Felony.

 

 

It is illegal to carry a weapon on educational property, openly or concealed, in the state of North Carolina unless you are a member of law enforcement.
