Investigators say that they received a call about a disturbance in the parking lot of the Walmart located on U.S. 421.

Witnesses reported that a white male had a knife but left the area and went inside the Durham sports.

An employee of that store told a reporting officer that the man, 29-year-old Jimmy Minton had a gun and, when an officer confronted him, he pointed the weapon at the officer.

Minton got away before other officers could arrive and headed back to the Walmart where he stayed until officers confronted him in the bathroom.

He dropped the weapon, which turned out to be a pellet gun that looked like a real gun.

Minton is charged with communicating threats, assault, larceny, felonious assault with a deadly weapon against a government employee, assault with a deadly weapon, and terrorism.

Officials say there could be more charges depending on the investigation.
