GREENSBORO, N.C. -- HandyCapable Network, an organization that gives people with disabilities an opportunity to refurbish computers, announced it is closing next week.

“We're going to move forward with the vision of creating an arts campus and using technology through art-making to really create an inclusive, lifelong learning space,” Lia Miller, executive director of Creative Aging Network NC, said.

The move will idle a dozen people, who volunteer with the organization.

This includes volunteer, Carl Haislip, who has cerebral palsy and he installed operating and software systems in computers when he volunteered. He says he was surprised when the organization made accommodations and gave him a chance to work.

HandyCapable Network will permanently close its doors on July 31.
