GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Board of Trustees at Bennett College has named Suzanne Walsh as the university's next President.

Walsh will begin her new role on August 1. She has spent 20 years working in philanthropy and has experience in helping educational institutions transition.

Walsh says, right now, the university is accredited but they are exploring other options, resolving legal issues, and preparing for the future.

"Always keeping in mind where are we in terms of young women, women who aspire to be leaders," says Walsh. "How are we making sure that we are matching what's needed out in the community."

The university's last president, Dr. Phyllis Dawkins, had her last day on June 21.

Earlier this year, the school fought to keep its accreditationn, after losing it in December over financial issues.
