GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department has qualified as a finalist for a national award, the 2019 National Gold Medal Awards for Excellence.

- McCray explained last year over four million people visited Greensboro's parks, trails, lakes and more
- The winner will be announced at the National Recreation Parks Association Conference in Baltimore in September
Director, Nasha McCray says their department is a three-time gold medal winner from 2002, 1987, and 1979.
McCray explained last year over four million people visited Greensboro's parks, trails, lakes and more.
She emphasized the city has a lot to offer for all age groups and demographics
“We want to continue that and to grow that and so I think being a 2019 finalist for this gold award will continue to elevate that and raise awareness for what we have to offer,” said McCray.
McCray said they have to submit a short video to showcase what makes their facilities visually unique.
The winner will be announced at the National Recreation Parks Association Conference in Baltimore in September.
