This is the seventh week in a row that rain has fallen on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday in the Triad. Much of the Piedmont should see at least one to two inches of rain this weekend.
After a dry start early Saturday morning, rain chances will increase for the late morning hours into the afternoon. Another round of showers and storms is expected later in the evening.
The rain should keep Saturday's highs to the mid 70s across the Piedmont Triad.
The threat for strong storms appears to be very low for Saturday. That could change by Sunday afternoon and evening. Sunday should start with just the chance for spotty showers in the morning. More widespread storms are then forecast by late Sunday afternoon and evening. As temperatures return to the mid and upper 70s, some of those storms could become strong. The Storm Prediction Center has placed Piedmont in a level 1 to 2 risk for severe storms.
In addition to localized downpours and lightning, some of the storms late Sunday could produce damaging wind gusts and hail.

The storm threat should end late Sunday night. Weekend rainfall totals should range between a half inch to one and half inches. Localized amounts of up to two inches are possible.
A few more pop up showers are possible Monday, but drier weather is forecast for most of next week. Next week will also be cooler than this week has been. Morning lows will drop to near 50 and possibly even into the upper 40s by midweek. Afternoon highs in the mid 70s are forecast for the first half of the week before warming back into the 80s by the end of the week.
