WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.---In honor of national police week, officers in Winston-Salem are paying their respects to those killed in the line of duty.
On Monday, officials read the names of nearly 200 fallen officers from 2018 at the Forsyth County Law Enforcement memorial rededication.
“We do this to honor and reflect on the loss of our fallen officers and to pay honor to those who are still serving and protecting,” said Ginger Amos, memorial president.
Tanya Tise husband died in 1992. He was a lieutenant and served with the Winston-Salem Police Department for 25 years.
“They’re not forgotten,” said Tise. “I mean he was the love of my life and he still is.”
The latest officer added to the list in Winston-Salem was killed in 2011.
