GREENSBORO, N.C.--The Historic Magnolia House in Greensboro is growing.
- The former motel for African American travelers during the Jim Crow era is now a restaurant for jazz brunch and private event space
- However, now officials are working to turn the space into a museum to tell the history of the house and eventually reopen rooms to accommodate overnight guests
- They hope to have it completed by the end of the year

Notable celebrities that have stayed at the house include:
- James Brown
- Ray Charles
- Ruth Brown
- Ike and Tina Turner
- Joe Tex
- Carter G. Woodson
- Jackie Robinson
However, now officials are working to turn the space into a museum to tell the history of the house and eventually reopen rooms to accommodate overnight guests.
“Also talking about stories of the Green Book and then talking about the black history in the Triad or in Greensboro,” said Natalie Pass-Mille, part-owner. “And how Greensboro was really pivotal in the Civil Rights movement era.”
She said they are already in the process of adding the museum portion that could cost up to $70,000.
They hope to have it completed by the end of the year.
