FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. – Axe-throwing is a fast-growing pastime amongst young Americans. And soon, Winston-Salem will be part of this renewed trend!

  • Axe Club of America is opening a new location in Winston-Salem.
  • Visitors will be able to compete in axe-throwing while enjoying adult beverages.
  • There are already axe-throwing locations in Greensboro, Charlotte, Durham, and Raleigh.

Axe Club of America has announced it will soon open a Winston-Salem location.

Visitors will be able to enter the sport of axe-throwing, all while enjoying adult beverages and conversation.

Axe-throwing is a competitive sport with easy-to-understand rules.

Players stand in fenced-in lanes and throw axes at targets 14 feet away.

Each spot on the target is worth different numbers of points.

Each thrower gets five throws, and the person with the most points at the end wins!

A full list of rules can be found here. And if you're going to play to compete, we highly recommend taking the time to learn all the rules first, because there are a lot.

Even though axe-throwing is a relatively new concept to Winston-Salem, it has already found success in other North Carolina cities such as Greensboro, Charlotte, Durham, and Raleigh.

And while mixing axe-throwing with alcohol consumption might sound risky, the layout of the facilities seem to have successfully prevented injuries thus far in the Tar Heel State.

The Winston-Salem location will open in Spring of 2019 at 121 West 9th Street.
