San Antonio – “Wicked,” the popular musical will return to the Majestic Theatre from September 26 through October 14. Tickets go on sale Friday, July 13 at 10 a.m. and start at $53.50.
In the Land of Oz, “Wicked” tells the untold story of the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good, long before Dorothy drops in. The unlikely friendship between a misunderstood emerald-green teenager and an ambitious popular girl reveals how these unexpected friendships changed each other’s lives for better.
The score includes the hits, “Defying Gravity,” “Popular,” and “For Good.” Since its opening in 2003, tge musical has been seen by nearly 55 million people worldwide. It is internationally recognized and has received over 100 awards, including a Grammy Award and three Tony Awards.
“Wicked” is based on a novel by Gregory Maguire. Stephen Schwartz produced its music and lyrics. The muscial was written into a book by Winnie Holzman. The production is directed by Joe Mantello with musical staging by Wayne Cilento. “Wicked” is produced by Marc Platt, Universal Pictures, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone.
