SAN ANTONIO – The man who died after he was found unresponsive at the bottom of an LA Fitness pool has been identified.

On March 30, Ray Daniel Paiz, 67, was spotted underwater by a swimmer who pulled him to the surface around 9:50 a.m. A bystander began CPR until EMS arrived.

Paiz was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.

The LA Fitness is located on the 1300 block of North Loop 1604.

Paiz’s cause of death was determined to be from cardiovascular disease with possible drowning.
