GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. -- A state trooper is recovering after a wreck Sunday afternoon in Guilford County.
Highway Patrol says the trooper was responding to a crash on Interstate 85 south near the ramp to U.S. Highway 421, and was sitting in his cruiser when a driver hydroplaned, hitting him and one of the cars involved in the earlier crash.
The trooper says 20-year-old Tori Clymore, from Johnston County, was driving about 65 miles per hour at the time.
She's cited for exceeding a safe speed for road conditions.
The trooper was taken to the hospital, but the Highway Patrol says his injuries don't appear to be life-threatening.
No one else was hurt.
