Police shot and killed a suspect and rescued a victim who had been stabbed multiple times, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Officers went to an apartment on the 5000 block of Roundstone Way just before 12:30 a.m. Friday, responding to a call about a domestic disturbance, police said.
"Officers observed a lethal threat to the victim and one officer discharged their service weapon," according to CMPD.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.
None of the officers were hurt, according to a police news release.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting, CMPD said. That is standard procedure in police shootings.
The department said the officer who fired their weapon will be on administrative leave as the SBI investigates.
