WILKESBORO, N.C. — A longtime humanitarian is doing his part to bring aid to people in crisis across the world.
Dave Philips is the deputy director of Samaritan's Purse.
He says he has been deploying on missions since he was 18 and has helped administer aid in more than 80 countries.
Philips just got back from Kenya, where he was overseeing the launch of a new cardiothoracic center for people in need.
He says he would not know what to do with his life if he was not making a difference with Samaritan's Purse.
"It’s a calling, but it is also a sense of making a significant contribution to communities that are in crisis,” he said.
Philips leads the international efforts of the organization.
Samaritan's Purse has donated more than 173 million pounds of food to Ukraine since Russia invaded the country last year.
The nonprofit relies on donations to fund its disaster relief.
