ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- People got the chance to check out the newly renovated Jake Rusher Park in south Asheville on Saturday.

The city held a ribbon cutting ceremony. The land was previously owned by Jake Rusher who passed in 2003. He wanted the city take over the land and turn it in to a park.

The city reached out to the community and got extensive input on the needed improvements. There's new parking, accessible sidewalks, basketball courts, a pavilion and restroom building.

They also put in some new landscaping, improved lighting and a new storm water system.
