Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass is outlining how the city will close the $1 billion gap in its budget.

More than 1,600 city positions will be eliminated, and several departments could be consolidated. No LAPD officers’ jobs are in jeopardy, but hundreds of civilian positions at the department are.
