ORLANDO, Fla. — It was a much more comfortable day Wednesday with a drop in temperatures and humidity.

Most spots only reached the low 80s with even some of our northern cities staying in the upper 70s. Unfortunately, rain chances and higher humidity are set to already move back in Thursday.

Quiet conditions will continue overnight with partly cloudy skies and temperatures dropping to around 70 degrees. Not quite as cool as Wednesday morning, but still fairly comfortable.

High pressure to the north of Central Florida will slide east to end our work week, allowing for a wind switch to the east. This will pull some moisture in off of the Atlantic and increase rain chances for the next few days.

Thursday will be partly sunny with about a 40 percent chance for rain. A few spotty showers may impact the coast in the morning, but the majority of the showers and storms will hold off until the afternoon. Most should wrap up during the evening with only an isolated coastal shower Thursday night.

Temperatures will be a few degrees warmer, in the mid-80s. This is slightly above average. Our highs will continue to climb as we head toward the weekend as another front approaches.

This front will keep rain in the forecast through the weekend with temperatures in the upper 80s. Our overnight lows will continue to drop to around 70 degrees.

Tropical Update

In the tropics, no named storms to talk about at this time. There is a tropical wave over southern Mexico that is expected to move into the Bay of Campeche soon.

This area is very broad and disorganized, but has the potential to become tropical as it moves over the warm water. The chance is low at this point and the window of opportunity to develop is small. Not a concern at this point, but something we’ll continue to monitor.

Hurricane season runs through November 30.

Beach and Surf Conditions

Beach and boating conditions Thursday may be a little hazardous at times. Not only will you need to watch for a few storms, but the water will be choppy with breezy winds.

Surf conditions remain poor with a moderate rip current threat. Small crafts should exercise caution.
