Keeping people informed of the weather on television is all Matthew East has ever wanted to do for a living, and he gets to live out his dream every day on Spectrum News. Matthew loves the challenge of reporting on weather in a competitive, 24-hour environment like Charlotte.
Prior to joining Spectrum News in August of 2005, Matthew worked in a small affiliate station in Mississippi. He has a masters of science in meteorology from Mississippi State University and holds the prestigious CBM (Certified Broadcast Meteorologist) Seal from the American Meteorological Society.
When he’s not informing you about the latest weather forecast, you can find Matthew spending time with his wife and five wonderful daughters. Matthew stays active and coaches many sports teams, including the softball team at Piedmont Charter Community School and the middle school girls’ basketball team. When he has a spare moment, he enjoys smoking BBQ (ribs and pulled pork are his specialties) and supporting the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
