As showers passed through North Carolina Tuesday afternoon, we heard from several viewers sharing photos of rainbows over their part of the state. After what seemed like a bleak March with the global spread of COVID-19, some pointed out that the rainbows were a sign of hope for the final day of the month.

Rainbows are created by sunlight shining through raindrops. The raindrops are small prisms that scatter the white light from the sun into all the different colors of the rainbow.
