The White House is accusing the media of downplaying the crowd size at Friday's presidential inauguration.
Press Secretary Sean Spicer blasted the media at a briefing Saturday, where he did not take any questions.
He says it is not possible to accurately know how many people showed up, and blamed security barriers for hampering the crowd size.
Photos comparing former president Obama's first inauguration and President Trump's began circulating online Friday
In spite of that, Spicer also claimed both a record number of people turned out in-person and watched Trump's inauguration on TV.
"These attempts to lessen the enthusiasm of the inauguration are shameful and wrong," Spicer said. "The American people deserve better and as long as he serves as the messenger for this incredible movement, he will take his message to the American people where his focus will always be."
According to Nielsen, about 31 million people tuned in to watch Trump's inauguration, which falls well short of the numbers for Barack Obama's and Ronald Reagan's first inaugurations.
