CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Area Transit System has a new app that will allow passengers to track buses and pay for rides.
Using the CATS-Pass app, users can see real-time locations and arrival times for buses across the CATS system.
Officials say the app will also allow more personalized trip planning through tools like the trip planner, which riders can use to set home and work locations in their app profile. Riders will also be able to “favorite” stops to quickly view the next arrival time.
“With real-time tracking, CATS customers have up-to-the minute transit information in the palm of their hand”, CATS CEO John Lewis said in a release. “This app allows riders to make informed choices about their commute - leading to decreased wait times, a first-class experience and greater quality of life. This is a milestone in our mission to create a more reliable transit system. We’re thrilled to bring this technology to the greater Charlotte region.”
Though not yet available, CATS says real-time tracking for the LYNX Blue Line and CityLYNXV Gold Line is in the works.
The CATS-Pass app is available now in the Apple and Google Play stores.
