CLEVELAND — If you see emergency vehicles and people running near Progressive Field on Wednesday, officials say there is no cause for concern.

The county is giving a heads up that they are running a “full-scale training exercise” at the baseball field from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18.

“This drill is designed to help first responders and agencies practice emergency response in a realistic setting,” the county said in a post on social media.

The training exercise is being conducted by the Cuyahoga County Office of Emergency Management, who are coordinating with the City of Cleveland City Hall and the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA).

Additionally, there will be some road closures associated with the training, as follows:

  • Bolivar Road and Eagle Avenue will be closed between Ontario and East 9th streets
  • East 6th and 7th streets will be closed from Huron Road to Gateway Plaza

“Signage will be posted to notify pedestrians,” the post reads. “Thank you for helping us keep the public informed and focused on safety!”
