The Buffalo Common Council has adopted a new resolution to ban the sale of all-terrain vehicles.
The resolution states that businesses that are caught selling ATVs could be subject to fines and possible suspensions of their business licenses.
It also calls on the Erie County Legislature to explore restricting the sale of ATVs, calling this a "regional issue."
People caught illegally operating ATVs or dirt bikes on city roads can face a fine up to $2,500 currently.
The resolution cited more than 475 incidents involving ATVs, including injuries, property damage and traffic violations, from 2021 to 2024.
Corporation Counsel has been requested to draft the ordinance within the next 30 days.
