The Lone Star State has historically taken at least two of the spots in the list of the top 20 places being are moving to, and this year is no exception. The surprise this year was which two Texas cities made the cut.

In the past couple of years, Houston and Austin have made the top 20 due to the influx of residents to the cities during the pandemic. But this year, neither were ranked.

“Our latest moving trends data demonstrates that previous pandemic moving hotspots, like Florida and Texas, have cooled down. Just two years ago, Florida was home to half of the cities within the top 10,” the report said. “This year? Only a fraction of Florida cities made the list. Similarly, Texas cities like Austin and Houston, which saw an influx of new residents during the pandemic, didn’t even make the list this year.”

But Austin made the top 20 on another list: cities with the highest number of move-outs. Austin came in at No. 18.

The two Texas cities that made the cut were Dallas-Fort Worth and San Antonio. Both cities were not ranked in 2024 but made the 2022 and 2023 lists, according to PODS’ report.

Dallas-Fort Worth was ranked fifth in the country for cities with the highest number of move-ins. San Antonio came in at No. 19.
