COLUMBUS, Ohio — One suspect is in custody and officials said they believe they have the location of a second suspect following a shooting Wednesday night that left two Mifflin Township Police officers injured according to Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #9 President Brian Steel.

Steel said officals are trying to arrest the second suspect, now identified as Daveonte Dixon, and believe they are a danger to the community.

The shooting happened at Mecca Road and Purdue Avenue. After the "officer down" call went out, two Columbus officers were injured in a crash on Agler Road at Purdue Avenue while responding to the shooting scene.

In a social media post, Steel said the that two Columbus officers were in stable condition and had been treated and released. The Mifflin Township officers are also in stable condition as of Thursday morning.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office is now handling the investigation. Franklin County Sheriff Dallas Baldwin and Attorney General Dave Yost spent Wednesday night at a local hospital speaking with the families of the officers.

This is the second instance this week of Ohio law enforcement being shot, the first being in Monday when Morrow County Sheriff's Deputy Daniel Sherrer, 31, was shot and killed while responding to a domestic situation off County Road 26, south of Marengo.

Earlier this month, another sheriff's deputy in Ohio was killed. Hamilton County Sheriff's Deputy Larry Henderson was killed after being hit by a car while directing traffic on May 2.
