DAYTON, Ohio — Summer begins this weekend at RiverScape MetroPark as the RiverScape Summer Music Series returns.
The free concerts will be held under the RiverScape Pavilion beginning Saturday, May 31 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and running through most weeks until August.
The series, sponsored by the Jack W. & Sally D. Eichelberger Foundation and On Par Entertainment, will feature a variety of themed evenings, cover bands alongside R&B, big band, folk, rock and bluegrass.
All the concerts will be at RiverScape MetroPark, 237. E Monument Ave in downtown Dayton.

- Friday, June 6: 80s Night with Retrobution
- Thursday, June 12: Big Band Night with The Bob Gray Orchestra
- Friday, June 20: Caribbean Funk Night with Luv Locz Experiment
- Friday, June 27: Country Night with Ryan Mundy
Music lovers can also join Tuesday Nights in the Park, which continue through June and feature live local musicians or Music Bingo from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
For those looking for other activities to get outside, starting next week kayak rentals start back up.
Taiter’s Kayak Solutions will rent kayaks from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursdays through October. Kayakers will launch from under the Riverside Bridge and can paddle through the Five Rivers Fountain of Lights. Renters must sign a waiver, but life jackets are provided. Rentals cost $15 per person.
The Dayton Freestyle Kayaking Competition also kicks off this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for those seeking a more advanced experience. Competitors should arrive at the RiverScape River Run between 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
