MARION COUNTY, Fla. — Marion County Utilities on Thursday issued a precautionary boil water notice for its customers in the Hunter’s Trace and Pine Ridge Estates communities.
Crews need to repair a water line serving the communities, the utility announced.
Customers can either use bottled water for drinking, cooking and brushing their teeth or should bring water intended for consumption to a rapid boil for at least one minute before using it until the precautionary notice is lifted.
Water used to do laundry or for bathing and showering does not need to be boiled.
After crews repair the water line, Marion County Utilities will perform testing to check for bacteria that could make customers sick if they drink it. Once the tests indicate the water meets the regulations established by the Florida Department of Health, the utility company will advise customers when the boil water notice has been lifted.
