More than 65,000 without power in the St. Louis region after Friday's storms

ST. LOUIS–Utility crews from as far as Kansas City will be helping restore services in the St. Louis region impacted by Friday’s possible tornado activity that left 5 dead and injured at least 38 in the city of St. Louis.

By late Saturday morning, Ameren Missouri reported more than 77,000 statewide without power, with 37,000 being in the city of St. Louis and 30,000 in St. Louis County.

Officials with Spire planned to release updated outage information Saturday afternoon. The company says crews are working with first responders and local partners to assess damage, with a priority on responding to emergency calls to restore gas service.

Impacted customers should call 800-887-4173. Technicians will re-light pilot lights on appliances.

If you think you smell natural gas, officials say to leave the area and call Spire’s emergency number at 800-887-4173 or 911. Do not return to the property until Spire or a first responder on scene says it’s safe.
