COVINGTON, Ky. — A major business is making Covington its new home. The largest home builder company in the region, the Fischer Group, is establishing its headquarters in the city.
The Fischer Group, which includes Fisher Homes, Grand Communities, Victory Mortgage, Homestead Title Agency and Ascension Collective plans to move its corporate headquarters into the renovated historic former first district school in 2027.
“I’m very proud to officially announce that the Fisher Group is planning to relocate our corporate headquarters of all five of these organizations right here to Covington, Kentucky,” said Tim McMahon, The Fischer Group CEO.
The 65,000 square-foot building will be expanded to a 95,000 square-foot space. The renovations are estimated to cost $11 million dollars. Current businesses residing in the building will temporarily move elsewhere once construction begins.
Covington Mayor Ron Washington said the relocation will not only bring 350 jobs, but shows the city’s efforts to attract businesses, families and visitors.
“This is a bigger business, but we’ve already always supported the mom-and-pop shop,” Washington said. “We’ve done that with our facade improvement grants... rent subsidies. But one thing that this does is it kind of puts the bow on the present. You know, it shows that we are a contender. People want to be here.”
“The culture has always been at Fisher about creating exceptional experiences,” said David Spaulding, a senior executive at the company. “Everyone sees that here, with all of the new amenities and the ability to have walkability and lunches and everything, together. So, it’s really always been about our clients and our employee.”
Plans for development will be presented to Covington commissioners during Tuesday night’s meeting. If city commissioners approve the development, the project still has to pass through the city’s planning and zoning process.
