Verizon customers in Currituck County have service once again after repairs to a cut fiber line where completed Thursday, emergency management officials said.

Currituck County Emergency Management said Verizon completed the repairs Thursday morning and had fully restored services to its customers.

The cut line was reported Wednesday and was said to be impacting the county as well as neighboring jurisdictions.

"Verizon customers may not be able to reach 9-1-1 so please share information with those family, friends and neighbors," the county said in a post.

Verizon customers were advised to use a wire line or "borrow a cell phone serviced by a different provider" if there is an emergency.

Hatteras Island was also being impacted by the outage.

The island's Community Emergency Response Team said a Starlink unit was made available behind the Avon Medical Center for people to make WiFi calls and access the internet.
