SARASOTA — A runaway boat with nobody behind the wheel sent Sarasota police scrambling.
The Sarasota Police Department said the incident happened Monday when the boat was spotted going in circles at about 40 mph.
Authorities were eventually able to latch onto the boat, board it and shut off the engine.
Police later found the driver who had been driving the boat. He said another boater cut him off, flinging him from his own vessel.
No injuries were reported.
It's expected to be an active season.
