TAMPA, Fla. — Seniors from around Tampa Bay took part in classes on Tuesday to enhance their digital education.

Seniors in Service of Tampa Bay received a check presentation of $10,000 from the Spectrum Digital Education program to provide education resources for seniors.

Spectrum provided a digital education training class to 20 Seniors in Service volunteers, including helpful hints while using services like Xumo, Wi-Fi and tips for staying safe while online. Seniors in Service say this program has helped some veterans gain access to healthcare, or emerge from homelessness.

“We have a group of volunteers that help with veterans, and we find some veterans that don’t have access to the VA benefits that they’re eligible for, because it has to be accessed through the internet,” Seniors in Service of Tampa Bay CEO Robin Ingles said.
