HAMBURG, N.Y. — Funeral services are being held Friday for a state trooper who helped save lives after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.
Calling hours for Jennifer Czarnecki were held Thursday night at the Watermark Wesleyan Church in Hamburg.
The acting state police superintendent says Czarnecki died from an illness related to her assignment at the World Trade Center site. He says Czarnecki helped with search and recovery efforts after the terror attacks.
The worsening illness forced her to retire last month after 20 years of service.
She worked out of the barracks in the town of Boston.
Her funeral is being held at the Watermark Wesleyan Church at 11 a.m. Friday.
