BLADEN COUNTY, N.C. -- With hurricane season approaching, the Bladen County community is making sure residents are ready.

The North Carolina Disability Rights Disaster Recovery Project held a hurricane preparedness event on Saturday.

The event was designed to equip the community with the tools necessary before, during, and after a hurricane.

“We’re just trying to make sure that people understand and have access to the materials and things that they need for a full recovery,” says Curtis Hill. “When you’re in a small county like Bladen County, it might be large a landmass, but the resources are here.”

The agency says their hope for the meeting was that everyone gains an understanding of the resources that are out there at the local, state, and federal levels.
