LOUISVILLE, Ky. – It’s always a great time to take a step back and make sure you’re doing everything you can to protect yourself from hacks and spyware. Reanna Smith-Hamblin, CEO and President of the Better Business Bureau in Louisville, offers the following tips to stay safe on your connected devices.

Do Your Own Cyber Security Check

Make sure you are using strong passwords and keep your anti-virus/anti-spyware software updated. It is also important to keep iPhone and other software up-to-date because updates often push important security patches. Also, be aware of the information you may be sharing online and cautious of links you click through your email. Visit bbb.org for more tips.

Beware of the ‘Apple Support’ Scam

Did you get an email from Apple Support? This phishing email says your Apple ID has been disabled and asks you to take action to verify your account. If you click the provided link, you may be handing your login information to a scammer.

Be Wary of the Business Email Compromise Scam

While these emails look like they are coming from your boss, they are being sent from a scammer. They may ask you to purchase gift cards for a client or to wire money into a different account. This is a scam!
