NORTH CAROLINA -- We now know that 16 tornadoes touched down as hurricane Dorian made its way into North Carolina last week.

The National Weather Service released its list of confirmed tornadoes Friday saying they all touched down on September 5 as the leading edge of Dorian hit our coast.
Of the 16, 14 touched down in southeast North Carolina: Brunswick, New Hanover, Pender, Columbus, and Bladen counties.

The strongest of the tornadoes was an EF-2 that touched down on Carolina Shores in Brunswick County. It hit a subdivision and severely damaged several homes.

- Livingstone Creek, Columbus County, NC (EF-0 85 mph)
- N. Myrtle Beach, SC (EF-0 75 mph)
- Scott’ Hill, NC (EF-0 75 mph)
- Carolina Shores, NC (EF-2 120 mph) started 658 AM as it came ashore and dissipated north of Hwy 17 around 717 AM EDT
- Natmore Rd area, Kelly, NC (EF-0 65 mph)
- St. Helena, NC (EF-0 75 mph)
- Porter’s Neck, NC (EF-1 100 mph)
- Long Creek, NC (EF-1 90 mph)
- Hwy 53 northeast of Burgaw, NC (EF-0 70 mph)
- S of Bolton, NC (EF-0 65 mph)
- Sunny Point, NC (EF-0 80 mph)
