CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. -- A teacher from Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools died after multiple people had to be rescued in the ocean, off of Pine Knoll Shores.

  • There were red flag conditions Sunday in that section of Carteret County.
  • All three kids were taken to the hospital in good condition.
  • The adult, Ernest Earl Foster, Jr, did not survive.

There were red flag conditions Sunday in that section of Carteret County.

Emergency units were dispatched at around 3 p.m. to the Memorial Park beach access.

When they arrived, two people with flotation devices reached three children in the water.

With help from emergency services, they were pulled out of the ocean.

A missing man was not immediately located, but after a few minutes, he was found and brought to shore.

All three kids were taken to the hospital in good condition.

 

 

The adult, Ernest Earl Foster, Jr, did not survive.

Foster reportedly grew up in Wilson County and was a teacher at Clemmons Middle School.
