A man has pleaded not guilty on charges of manslaughter, vehicular homicide and DWI following a fatal crash in Clifton Park.
Dickie Winn, 59, was arraigned Sunday morning on the charges, which stem from a crash at the intersection of State Route 9 and Ushers Road Saturday.
Two people, identified as John Heneghan, 33, and Caitlyn Holtzman, 32, of New York City, were killed in the crash.
Three others, identified as Julia Staples, Luka O’Doherty and Enda Crowley, were treated for serious but not life-threatening injuries.
State police said a vehicle going south on Route 9 around 3 p.m. Saturday veered out of its lane, hitting another car that was eastbound on Ushers Road, but had stopped for a traffic light.
Clifton Park Town Justice James Hughes identified Winn as the driver of the vehicle that struck the stopped car.
Winn was taken to a nearby hospital after complaining of chest pains, but is in police custody and is expected to be formally charged Sunday.
Winn remains in police custody at Saratoga County Jail and is due back in court on Wednesday.
