NORTH CAROLINA -- FEMA approved $41.5 million to reimburse North Carolina Emergency Management for activities during hurricane Florence.
The public assistance program gives money back to state and local governments as well as some non-profit organizations. They removed debris, made permanent repairs to damaged infrastructure, and other life-saving emergency protective measures.
FEMA pays 75 percent of eligible cost and the state pays the remaining. The federal portion goes to the state who then distributes the money.
