Second Lieutenant Jane Knowles recounts the dangers of serving as nurses in the battlefield with a program called “The Rest of the Story”, presented to the public in the Orringer Auditorium at Craven County Community College.

Knowles aims to dispel common misconceptions that working in the infirmaries kept them “out of harm’s way”.

“We had a bomb threat. We had a big baggage palette in the back of the airplane, and we had a bomb threat come through,” recalls Air Force Flight Nurse Christine Nelson. “And we actually started to turn around and go down, and we ejected the baggage palette off the back end.”
