WILMINGTON, N.C. -- A celebrated Wilmington pianist passed away on Sunday.
- The award-winning actor and composer moved from Wilmington to New York in the 1970s
- Went on to star in Hello Dolly! on Broadway and composed songs for other shows
- He earned a star on the Wilmington Walk of Fame in 2014
Rhonda Bellamy, director of the Arts Council of Wilmington and a close friend announced the passing of Grenoldo Frazier.
The award-winning actor and composer moved from Wilmington to New York in the 1970s, going on to star in Hello Dolly! on Broadway and composed songs for other shows.
Frazier's life and work were profiled in the documentary The Piano Entertainer: Stompin' Grenoldo Frazier, made by friend and former UNC Wilmington professor Maurice Martinez.
He earned a star on the Wilmington Walk of Fame in 2014.
