GREENVILLE, N.C. -- A murder at the Pitt-Greenville Airport is disrupting flight schedules.

  • Police arrested 49-year-old John Reid moments after they say he shot 52-year-old Joseph Pate Right in front of the main entrance
  • Reid is now facing first degree murder charges and is being held with no bond
  • Airport officials canceled the 11 a.m. flight due to the investigation, no other flights are expected to be canceled

Police arrested 49-year-old John Reid moments after they say he shot 52-year-old Joseph Pate Right in front of the main entrance to the airport terminal.

Pate died at the scene shortly after 6 a.m.

Reid is now facing first degree murder charges and is being held with no bond.

Police say the two men knew each other and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Airport officials canceled the 11 a.m. flight due to the investigation, no other flights are expected to be canceled.
