The Greenville chapter is closing due to hazing and alcohol allegations.
Pi Kappa Phi's closure will be effective immediately on ECU's campus through Spring 2021.
The national fraternity alerted ECU in August about allegations and incidents that happened in the previous academic year, and that the chapter had been placed on cease and desist while an investigation was conducted.
This is the sixth Greek organization at ECU to be closed within the past year.
The vice chancellor for student affairs, Virginia Hardy, said in a statement:
ECU is committed to student safety and work actively to educate our students on critical issues facing Greek-letter organizations nationwide. We are also committed to holding organizations and students accountable for actions that do not meet expectations.
