SAN ANTONIO -- It's a smash hit that's needless to say very "Popular."

The Broadway show "Wicked" is back in San Antonio during its 15th anniversary tour. The show opens Wednesday.

"We like to say it's of what happened before Dorothy dropped in. Our director, Joe Mantello, said if you're watching the 'Wizard of Oz,' and the camera kind of panned left five or six feet in either direction, that's our story," said company manager Steve Quinn.

It takes a lot of prep work to set up for one of Broadway's biggest hits.

"It takes about two and a half days to get the 13 trailers unloaded and set up. We're pretty much a full-scale Broadway production right here in San Antonio," Quinn said.

This is the fourth time the show has come to the Alamo City, and this time they're extending their stay. This will be the first time they're keeping the show running for three weeks.

"The arts community is really getting much stronger here. The growth in this city is unbelievable. It's one of the fastest growing cities in the United States, and people like the arts, and the story is universal, and there's just so much for everyone in the show," Quinn said.
