WILMINGTON, N.C. – Labor Day Weekend is one of the busiest for camping as summer comes to a close.
- 300 Wilmington Kampers of America took advantage of the three-day weekend
- Organizers say it's been busy all season despite the bad weather
- KOA is open year-round
The Wilmington Kampers of America had a full house for the three-day weekend, with about 300 people camping at their RV, tent and cabin site, just off Market Street.
Jon Lewis, the maintenance lead for Wilmington KOA says it has been like this all season, despite the bad weather.
"Even though the weather has been really bad in our area, campers are campers. They’re going to travel and camp. They’re going to RV. We were full. People were just walking around in the rain and enjoying it,” said Lewis.
Lewis says while summer is the busiest season for the KOA, they are busy and open year-round.
