KINSTON, N.C. -- A man is facing a murder charge after a shooting in Kinston.

• Shooting happened in 600 block of Fields Street.
• John Earl Simmons was charged.
•  Anthony Dove died at the hospital.

Police say 66-year-old John Earl Simmons was arrested Saturday.

Authorities were called to a home in the 600 block of Fields Street where they found a man inside with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The victim, identified as 27-year-old Anthony Dove, was taken to the hospital, where he later died.         

Authorities say the victim and the suspect were attending a party at the home when the shooting happened.
