NEW HANOVER COUNTY, N.C. -- A boil water advisory on the coast has been lifted after high levels of fluoride was reported on Wednesday.

EPA guidelines mandate that fluoride levels need to be below two grams/liter, but found levels between four and eight.

A CFPUA engineer says they're making sure this doesn't happen again.

“We’re looking at the mechanical systems, we’re looking at our controls and instrumentation systems, and we’re looking at our standard operating procedures just to see if we need to make changes. And are there mechanical systems that we need to fix to make sure this doesn’t happen again,” said Carel Vandermeyden.
