NEW HANOVER COUNTY, N.C. -- A New Hanover County high school teacher is facing 28 new charges after being accused of sexually inappropriate behavior with at least 10 additional victims.
Michael Kelly, 48, who taught at Isaac Bear Early College, was initially arrested earlier this month.
His arrest came after the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office was notified by the FBI about a victim who had child pornographic images on his phone.
Monday, the sheriff's office filed more charges including second degree sexual exploitation of a minor, indecent liberties with a student and also statutory sex offense with a child 15 years old or younger.
The offenses date back as far as 2013.
Kelly remains in the New Hanover County Detention Center.
