DEPEW, N.Y. — An overnight fire at the Twin Village Salvage recycling center on Broadway in Depew has been extinguished, but it’s not the first time firefighters were called to the facility.
One of the metal shredding machines caught fire near the rear of the complex a little after 6 p.m. Wednesday. More than 1,000 feet of hose were needed to reach the fire in order to put it out.
No one was injured.
Depew Fire Chief Scott Wegst says this isn't the first time the department has responded to calls at the recycling center.
Because of the materials burned at this facility, the state’s Department of Environmental Conservation responded to check the air quality.
Officials will be following up on those air quality concerns Thursday.
